Paxton are distributors for AQUAMAT Pasture Pump
Pasture Pumps, also known as Nose Pumps, are becoming increasingly popular because they can reduce sediment, nutrient, and pesticide run-off, which in some regions attracts capital grants for farmers.
The
AQUAMAT Pasture Pump for livestock is a diaphragm pump which connects to a local watercourse, the animal operates with its nose dispensing water into the bowl. The operation is so light to operate that it can be used by cattle, horses and calves as well.
Water in the bowl acts as ‘bait’ which attracts the thirsty animal, and it quickly learns to push the lever out of its way to reach the "bait" water. When the animal drinks all the water and pulls its head away, the lever is released and more water is pumped into the bowl by the lever returning to its initial position.
AQUAMAT Pumps are connected to the water source through a 1" suction hose and a spring loaded foot valve with a screen that meets fisheries requirements. This foot valve can be installed in the water source at any angle but needs to be kept out of the riverbed sediment. The intake screen can be unscrewed for cleaning if debris gets into the valve.
